#17 Alexi Sanchez (2022, OF/1B) returns for her 10th season on the St Louis Heat. She is an elite defensive outfielder with a strong, accurate arm, and can also play first base. At the plate, Alexi is an impact player – she is a clutch hitter and a smart baserunner with above-average speed.
After earning All-District and All-Conference honors as a freshman, Alexi helped lead her high school team to a 4th place finish in the Missouri state championships during her sophomore campaign. She finished the season with a .598 average, .625 OBP, .786 SLG, 67 hits, 54 runs. In a historic season where she tied a school record for RBIs (51), she was named All-Conference, All-District, All-Region, and 2nd Team All-State. Alexi was also named the Conference Player of the Year in the Suburban St Louis Red Conference and was most recently named to stltoday.com‘s 1st Team All-Metro softball team. She also ranks 4th in the MSHSAA record books for number of hits in a season (67). As a junior Alexi earned 1st Team All-District & 1st Team All-Conference honors.
Alexi has excellent game knowledge and is a great team leader with a positive attitude. A talented multi-sport athlete, Alexi is also a standout basketball player and a 2-time sectional qualifier in javelin, placing 5th in State her junior year. She is a strong student with a 3.55 GPA and is interested in pursuing a degree in business in college.
